About the Author

Mark Salvatore is a versatile pianist, composer, and producer whose artistry bridges classical, jazz, and electronic music. He has performed extensively throughout the United States and Europe as a soloist, chamber musician, accompanist at international music festivals, and guest soloist with various orchestras.
Mark’s formative classical studies were with esteemed mentors including Natalie Ryshna Maynard (Steinway artist, pupil of Olga Samaroff Stokowski), Paul Ostrovsky (pupil of Emil Gilels), and Stephanie Brown (pupil of Rudolph Serkin). In jazz, he studied with renowned pianists Donald Vega (Ron Carter Trio), Charles Blenzig, and Anthony Guzzi. He earned a B.A. in Musical Arts, summa cum laude, from SUNY Purchase Conservatory of Music, demonstrating a deep commitment to both performance and scholarship.
Since 2008, Mark has provided private instruction to music students and instrumentalists across New York and from his Easton Sound Lab studio in Connecticut, sharing his expertise in technique, interpretation, and improvisation. He is the founder of The Art of Dexterity LLC, a company dedicated to creating innovative educational products and method books for musicians and teachers specializing in instrumental technique. His first publication, The Technology of Rhythmic Dexterity (also available in Spanish as La tecnología de la destreza rítmica), has been widely used by students and teachers alike. Mark has also contributed extensively to the professional music community as an arranger, producing over 300 scores for renowned jazz artists in the New York area.
In addition to classical performance, Mark is deeply engaged with electronic music and visual performance techniques. Drawing from his background in percussion and piano, he experiments with immersive sonic experiences that blend cinematic, and ambient elements. He actively explores live performance using electronic hardware, integrating dynamic soundscapes and visual artistry.
